Now I am getting confused. The scanner I have is the Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 ED. It is a 16 bit scanner. What I was wondering is how the 5000 ED compares with the LS-5000. I'm not sure which scanner is the latest or what the differences are. Nikon gives the specs for the 5000 ED on their web site but I am unable to find out anything about the LS-5000, which is why I was asking here. The LS-5000 seems to garner higher prices on ebay, but I'm not sure that that is a consistent pattern. Anyway, the discussion led me to question whether there was room to improve on the scanner I currently have. Thanks for any information anyone has on this question.
