exactly, then the problem remains how to do it on the fly with grayscale files... so, your options are- 1) preconvert to SP CMYK, as this suggests, even for image printing from here on out. 2) import gray as rgb, then proceed normally, but you should have done that with your chart as well, this will auto assign SP's "default" RGB, which is fine, but the entire process, charts, images and all, from here on out need to be done that way. 3) Preconvert grayscales to rgb of your choice. 4) import gray as RGB, then assign (in SP) an RGB space of same gamma as your grayscale... this would be preferable... actually any of these need to be done consistantly from charts to actual use for any of it to make any sense...
