Drummers Needed

Drummers Needed

2004-05-23 by acoustic356

I run a few recording Yahoo Groups for guitarists... we write a LOT
of music and are in need of more "realistic" sounding drums...

I was wondering if it would be possible for us to partner together.

I don't want to put a lot of off topic posts here, but just need to
know if anyone here is willing to become a collaborating drummer...
maybe produce a MIDI file that we can use in our music or even
better... audio!!!!

Let me know if you are interested... We write A LOT of music so it
might be fun...

Acoustic.

I am definitely interested. My DTX is setup specifically to record.
Just email me. Some samples can be found at www.bandhole.com (click on
the (*) to get to the MP3 downloads)

Hey JAy...
I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you concerning
online collaboration... Let's talk about the logistics as to how this
can happen... I was thinking about providing you with an audio file
that you could play drums against and then just send a MIDI file
back, but then I thought there might be some timing problems...
So, now I'm thinking about sending an audio track and a MIDI file
that has a tempo map...
   Have any ideas?
Acoustic.

Sorry to but my nose in... I really have limited experience with the
midi side of programs like Cubase/Sonar but I imagine the best thing
to do is talk about which programs you both use... it is possible
that you guys could just swap the whole project... even if someone
use sonar and the other Cubase you can still export and it will keep
track info and timing all together. Maybe someone could chime in if
they new more about sync'ing the two up in a different way.

But in reallity it shouldn't be too hard to "bump"/"Push" his midi
tracks one way or another... the audio *SHOULD* play at the same
speed no matter which computer the wave is played on (just make sure
you guys play to a click track and stick to it ;), then it would just
be a matter of the start points maybe needing to be tweaked.

I'm interested in hearing any progress on these "sessions",
Gilligan

Yes. The absolute easiest way is to just send a Cubase file recorded
with a click track. Then it would simply be a matter of adding a drum
track to it. Piece of cake. In a perfect world though, you would be
recording on a Mac to GarageBand. Yeah, I know it's very far from
professional quality, but it's fun and super easy to use. That's what
I use when I try to record something *seriously*. heh. Otherwise, if
you see some of my old posts I record everything to MiniDisc. But I'm
easy. Cubase, Logic, GarageBand, it's all the same to me. Just record
it on a track with a tempo set. Or hell, you could even send an MP3.
It wouldn't be hard to find the tempo and import it into either of
those apps.

Anyone else out there have a better solution?? The DTX makes it so
easy to record with. :)
