Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Hi guys,

Im looking to purchase a dual trigger pad to use in the 9/10 jack. I 
want to expand my cymbal possibilties. Are there only certain types 
of pads that are compatable with the dtxpress brain? I know obviously 
Yamaha will work, but what about other brands? Has anybody tried 
the "trigger bar"? Will this work with the dtxpress? Thanks for your

I have the BP80 trigger bar on my kit (a DS10 with DTX v2 brain) and I like
it. Plug n play, feels good, looks right at home.

It was kind of expensive (especially in Canadian dollars) but it's nicely
designed and well put together, plus it comes with a short piece of rack
tubing, one plastic clamp (you'll be familiar with) and one cast alloy
bypassing quick release clamp (like you find on the DS9-12 series and
DTXtreme) which I have (annoyingly?) raved about in the past.

Ironically I wound up mounting the BP80 smack on top of the left vertical
using only the plastic clamp, which freed up the other new hardware to
better position the TP80s that was once my fourth tom-tom, that I now use
for a ride cymbal. This means both my PCY80s are crash cymbals now (one deep
one thin) which is great. I've set the BP80 to be, usually, a side stick or
wood block, handclaps or cowbell. It would make a great cymbal bell too if
necessary.

I have tried the Pintech Dingbat. It is not as sensitive as the
stock Yamaha round pads and cymbal pads. It might work ok
if you switch things around and use them for inputs 1-6 with the
attenuation switches in the high sensitivity position.

One nice thing about the Dingbat ( and I assume the 6" Nimrod)--
They are the same diameter as the rack tubes. If you remove the end
cap from the Dingbat, it will fit into the 'T' fittings of the rack. Or,
they
can be clamped on to the hex rods that are used for the round pads.
