Check out the new Visuals featured on the Pintech site, including the
John Bonham tribute Vistalite look-alike kit. Go, Brian, Go.

They are deeply, deeply gorgeous, it is true. In my "fantasy budget"
moments, I think a Visual kit would be my top choice. Some of the
more "acoustic style" kits don't do it for me as they only go for
single sized shells - it looks like a kit made exclusively of snare
drums. Look at RET for an example of this. The individual drums are
beautiful, but the overall effect for me is more jarring than a kit
made up of rubber pads. If you're going to go for an
acoustic "visual" style, the Pintech Visuals are top banana in my
book. But the math... oh, my word. My ideal kit - a seven-piece,
with secondary "piccolo" snare is in fantasy mathematics territory
for me.

Just to make that concrete, I priced up a Visual shell pack (8, 10,
12, 14, 16 toms, 20 kick, 14 and 10 snares) at Drumbalaya. $3574
without cymbals, hardware or module. Hugely better value than R*land
without doubt, but ...

Stewart,

I know what you mean. My 10" concertcast toms are more than
serviceable, and take up about as much room as I can afford at the
moment, but they don't have that . . . well, visual appeal. Our 18th
C house is still a work in progress, but when we add a couple of
rooms to it within the next year or so, I'd like to score a Visual as
well. However, I have my eye on Brian's bubinga kit. I'm hoping that
he can run it through a copy machine, or he finds another one in the
Pintech closet that needs a home.
