KP65 Wear

KP65 Wear

2003-09-03 by bparker0701

I'm a new member to the group. I have a new (3/4 year old)
DTXpressII system. I've added a couple PinTech 6" Nimrods for
cowbell and cymbal bell.

I'm experiencing some difficulties with my KP65. The front rubber
part is wearing through. I called Yamaha. They told me that I could
replace it with p/n V8587900, but it would take like 2 months to get.

Is there a quicker fix? The pad doesn't sound the same, and I've
relocated the pedal arm to a lower location.

I've looked through the picture files. It doesn't look that hard to
take apart. I'm an electronics developer, so that's also not an
issue.

Thanks,
Bill

If that works, relocating the beater to a different place, then immediately
get a bass drum beater patch and put it on the pad. That's what I have to do
to keep from having to return my kick pad, which was starting to show wear
like that in about 3-4 months.

Stephanie and pbarker,

Not only does the outer rubber pad wear out but also the foam disk inside
the KP-65. Since the KP65 can be used with a double bass pedal, I have just
shifted the beater to the left of center and in few months with shift it to
the right of center. I was actually thinking about getting a rubber patch
kit that is used to repair bicycle tires and glueing it to the face of the
rubber pad, to kept a rubber consistency.
