Possible Contact With The Owner/Moderator!!

Possible Contact With The Owner/Moderator!!

2003-08-03 by drumzilla

I just recived this from Rolf Baehr. Hopefully he'll be able to help
the group with our problem. In spite of his protestation I replied
to his e-mail & asked if he would take a couple minutes to cure our
problem for us. Keep your fingers crossed.

Zilla

never have been a "moderator" for this or any other group. Make sure
who you are sending these sorts of messages to before sending them
please. Get your facts straight.

I tried to reach Baehr months ago without any response. But more odd
is that Chris Thackston, the group's founder, who was listed as a
moderator with Baerh when I went looking for both of them (along with
Roger), has mysteriously disappeared from that post. Did Chris return
only to delete himself from the group and absolve himself from
responsibility?

That's what it looks like, Ed. Thackston was still listed a few days
ago, now he's gone. How &%$#%& sorry is THAT?! I hope Rolf can help
us out. Thackston goes down in my book as a certified s**tbird.

Are these birds coprophagous in nature?

Frankly, slinking away doesn't seem like the Chris Thackston that I
remember, but checking his account and cutting him from the roster
doesn't sound much like Yahoo either. They have insisted that they
will not interfere with an established group under any circumstances.
If they had deleted him, it stands to reason that one of us, or all
of us, would have known about their action. Right now, it's a mystery.

Man, this just gets curiouser & curiouser, doesn't it? If we're to
believe Yahoo, it HAD to be Chris Thackston that wiped his account.
Add that to the fact that the Rolf Baehr listed as the group owner
says he's not the moderator/owner of any group, & the weirdness keeps
building.

I am hopeful that the Rolf Baehr who e-mailed me will take a few
minutes to check in with the group & solicit volunteers for the
moderator's job. With several people willing & able to take the
reins, the group could be squared away in no time flat.

Keep your fingers crossed, kids!

Just to play along, here's a scenario. Zilla, you can bear me out
about the protocol: Thackston lost interest eventually, but knew that
he couldn't resign from his moderator role without assigning someone
else to it first, so he randomly picked Baehr's name without
notifying him. I don't recall Baehr ever being a major contributor to
this group, though he posted a few times; I remember him from other
edrum settings, however. At any rate, Baehr also drifted away from
the group, with no idea that he was its designated moderator. Hence,
his denial to Zilla and his apparent disregard of my note to him.

Why Thackston never responded to messages sent by Zilla, Roger
Teevan, and me to his band, Black Root Ensemble, is another head
scratcher.

Hence,

Just noticed in the Members list that Baehr has been promoted from
Moderator to "Owner".

OGD,

I'm not even sure that the star was there earlier this morning when I
last checked. When was the last time you looked before you noticed
the change?

Ed,

Earlier this morning when I checked, he was still listed as a moderator
(yellow star). When I just check before lunch, the star changed colors to
blue, and when checking under the moderator tab, he was now listed as an
owner.

Also, in reference to your earlier comment about Yahoo's interference.

here's what the Yahoo guidelines say:

"Yahoo! Groups, in its sole discretion, may terminate or remove any content,
Group or your Yahoo! ID immediately and without notice "
So now if Rolf Baehr can just graciously appoint multiple folks here as
Moderators, we can finally put this issue behind us.

OGD,

Nice catch. This sure is a weird set of circumstances.
