Yamaha DTXpress/DTXplorer/DTXtreme

Is it possible to layer voices while using an external midi device?  
In my case, the Roland PM-16.  It just occured to me right now, 
while playing with my toms voices, that I can't seem to layer in the 
util menu.  Another reason to own an extra module I suppose...

Long time no see. You have to layer from the external device. The 
MidKITI, for example, will accept up to four layers--three 
simulataneous and four alternating. I don't know about the PM-16, 
but a wild guess is that it doesn't, since Roland doesn't offer that 
feature on many, if not all, of its modules.
