Connecting to a computer

Connecting to a computer

2003-01-28 by selfcase <selfcase@yahoo.com>

I'm sure this is in the message board somewhere, but so far all the
posts I've found are really specific, and I need some general help:

I have the cable that attaches the brain of my DTX to my computer.

Is it possible to get the recordings I've saved in my 'user song'
banks onto my computer in .wav format? I see that in the 'Files'
section some people have mp3s up, (which is what I would like), but I
don't know how to do this.

If someone would give me some simple step-by-step instructions on how
to do this (including what software to download, etc), I'd really
really appreciate it.

Dave

Hey dave! As you've prolly noticed I like to make recordings and
turn them into mp3s and post them! :) The method I use is to plug
the DTX module directly into my computer. I'm not using any midi
cables or anything like that. I'm simply plugging into the
headphone jack, with an adaptor to fit the phones jack, and plugging
the end into my soundcard's microphone jack, which fits perfectly
and does not require an adaptor. (I don't know if you want to go
this route or were even planning to.) From there my computer can
now pick up my DTX and I control the volume via the soundcard's
controls. When I have everything sounding good, I use a piece of
Software called Cool Edit Pro, which can multi-track and or record
your single dtx. There are several pieces of software that can do
this. With Cool Edit Pro you save all your tracks as wav files and
then its very easy to turn the wav files into mp3s with some good cd
ripping software. Once you have your mp3s you can burn cds for your
friends or post them here or just listen to yourself play day in and
day out! :) I'm sure other people will help ya out too! If you
have anymore questions, just ask us!
