Just a suggestion When I got my kit, I found the bass drum pad far too hard, so I took an old cymbal muting pad (neoprene I think), cut out a rectangle, and duct-taped it over the pad..it soften up the pad significantly and has lasted almost a year so far with no real wear. Mike

I can second that idea - I used a piece from one of those thick (5mm) mouse mats.... Paul
