Group name & scope of the group

Group name & scope of the group

2008-03-06 by Keith

It has been suggested by Cat that we could merge the group with other
Yahoo edrum/vdrum groups to create a wider community. While I am the
current owner of the group I feel the group actually belongs to its
members - I am just the caretaker - so I have created a poll to find
out peoples opinions.

The argument for merging is it creates a wider, more active community.
The DTXpress group is probably big enough to have reached the
"critical mass" required to be active, although we seem to have fewer
posts from more members than a few years ago for some reason.

The argument for keeping things as they are is that it makes it easier
to get DTXpress/DTXplorer questions answered without having to search
through Vdrum/Alesis questions.

By all means reply to this post as well as voting if you want to voice
an opinion.

Keith.

Keith,
I believe it should stay the way it is. I for one have used many. many, posts and answers to help me educate myself into the world of Yamaha electronic drums. I have also answered posts on subjects that I have knowledge in or an opinion on. There is a furum on Yamahas' site similar to this but not with email sending and posts such as ours. I would vote to keep it the way it is. Roland and other players can create a group geared to their brand if one is not already in exsistance. Just being proud and loud to my chosen brand ! Thanks !

For what it's worth, I think we should consider merging with the
DTXtreme group as they have a lot of components in common - keep it
Yamaha I say.

Richard,

Thanks for the comments. We have contacted the DTXtreme group but
they don't want to merge. I can understand their reasoning, but their
is a lot of overlap as well.

Thanks for the votes so far. I will probably close the poll in a week
or so, so get your votes in.

Thanks everyone.

Keith.

I absolutely agree with keeping it Yamaha - this is a vital resource
for, lets face it, still a monority drummers group. Diluting with
other brands will not add any value to this resource. As a DTXpress 1
user since 1999, and one certainly not considering to change, I say
let's keep that knowledge pure for those who rely on it...

Just to say, I will close the poll later today, so if there are any
more votes/comments, please get them in soon.

Thanks.

Keith.
