I have 10 pads connected: The 8 OEM singles, plus a
TP80S for the snare & a PCY80S for an extra cymbal.
I run a single pad & cymbal into 9/10 thru a
y-connector. I have obtained 100% of my kit thru Ebay
(rockbottommusic.com) or Yahoo Auctions.
I'm not too happy with the PCY80S, tho. I was looking
for a ride/bell ride from it, but the rim needs to be hit pretty hard & I
have trouble with 16th's on it. I wasn't really interested in the
choke. The TP80S rim also has to be hit hard, but it's not so bad at
the right angle & I'm not trying for speed. For sidestick I dial
down the volume.
I do like the versatility of the extra pads - I assign
the 4th tom pad to cowbell or floor tom, for 4 kits total (rim/ss,
tom/cb).
Has anyone seen the same problems with the rim-switch
pads? Also, how are other folks arranging the snare pad to allow rim
hits? I am hitting the far rim, with the stick going between the 1 & 2
toms.
