narrowgatedrummer wrote: "Is the L/mono line out a balanced output?" At first this sounded like a trick question. I had always thought of mono=unbalanced, stereo=balanced, but after doing a quick web search there is mono=unbalanced/balanced, where the tip/ring are unbonded/bonded, respectively. Assuming I correctly understood what I read. (I have been burning the midnight oil the past week, and the candle at both ends and in the middle too! So don't shoot me if I wrong.) You are right, the manual does not say if it is a mono un-balanced or mono balanced (with tip/ring bonded). My guess would be un-balanced. You can't tell from looking an the circuit board jack. So if nobody here knows for sure, then we would need to ask Yamaha Tech. support or if you have a TRS jack with a pig tale, you could plug it in and check the resistance between the Tip/Ring. If you get an open circuit between Tip/Ring then they are not bonded and thus un-balanced. This is my "Friday" heading into a 4-day weekend, so I have only one real thought about now.
