Hi Creighton,

I'm going to send out a universal letter to everyone who is at least 
nominally a member of this group and has opted to receive its emails. 
It will really be an appeal to silent members for a response about 
their level of commitment so that we can determine, to the best of 
our ability, just how many of the 733 members have at least some 
interest in the group, whether they post or not. This information may 
prove valuable in future endeavors or in future attempts to protect 
the membership from unwanted intrusions (spam, porn, advertising, 
etc.).

At any rate, the letter is not directed at people like you, even 
though you'll receive it. We'd just love to hear from those whose 
names we don't immediately recognize or those who once participated 
but have since stopped posting.
