It's amazing to me how many of us have things in common! :) I've had
three back surgeries and also am dealing with early-onset osteoarthritis
(knees and low back mostly). I'll be turning 40 this September (gasp!)
and I got the kit* to try and get "back into music" after playing
professionally (i.e. starving!) during my college years (actually, though
I *love* to play drums, in the bands I was in I was lead vocals, front
man, rhythm guitar).

Anyway.. based on this, the one piece of advice I can give out to all is
take Glucosamine/Chondroitin every day for joints! One I started with
this I got back a lot of mobility w/o pain. I combine this with VIOXX and
it gives me back the mobility that starts to degrade as pain trains your
body *not* to move in certain ways.

I also use the lightest sticks I can find and turn the triggers
sensitivity up. Then I crank up the volume on the module so hitting the
pads lightly gives me that "big boom sound" so I don't have to hit hard
and regret the stress in the morning... :)

Vern

*Actually my wife bought it for me so a) I would stop playing the Pearl
acoustic set that would wake the baby and b) I think she was tired of my
whining.... :D
