Looks like I get the hat trick. Yes, you can have a configuration with multiple modules, and you can achieve a relative balance by running them all through a mixer. This is the least cost-effective way to expand. The most cost-effective way is to use a midi interface--like the Roland TMC-6, a discontinued Roland PM-16, or a discontinued Kat midiKITI--to add extra inputs. I just posted answers to similar questions and provided some detail about these units a couple of days ago.
