Re: AGH!! My dual zone ride cymbal is messing up!

2003-01-26 by liberatusvirus <liberatusvirus@yahoo.com>

Hi underneath,

There may be something going on with your cymbal, but then again
there may not. E-drums and cymbals respond better to finesse than to
power. If you're wailing away at the cymbal, you may be hitting it
awkwardly, causing the FSR and piezo to react to each other oddly.
After all, they aren't that far away from each other, and their
interaction is a bit of a delicate dance. When you get up tomorrow
(with indigestion from the pizza), try positioning the cymbal so
that you can play it as a ride, away from the edges, without hitting
the raised section unless you want to crash. If that doesn't work,
something might be wrong. Also, it's easy to choke the cymbal
unintentionally, whether riding or crashing, if your stick doesn't
clear the raised rim fast enough after you hit it.
