DTXtreme IIS or Roland TD12

2006-08-16 by znfusion

Hi All,
Sorry to have to bring this up but I currently have a DTXpress 1
and want to upgrade. I've had a quick play on the DTXtreme II and it
seemed to sound the same as my DTXpress 1 so I then decided to look
at the Roland kits and I'm impressed with the TD12 the way it works.
More importantly the snare sound seem more realistic and they have
more dynamics than the Yamaha snare sounds.
However, what I need to know is does the DTXtreme II have any snares
drum sounds with the snare buzz switched off? I currently have to
assign a jazz tom to my snare pad to get this kind of sound. I know
that with the TD12 you can switch the snare buzz on and off and also
add dampers etc. Does the DTXtreme have this capability?

I do like the TD12 but the DTXtreme II would be more beneficial to me
as I can add my existing pads to it and only use one module and pay
less but if the snares are crap then I'll be in the same situation as
I am now but with more pads.

Can anyone give me a good rundown on the pros and cons of these kits?

Thanks
