Golly,

Bear with me. I've never had occasion to change MIDI channels with a
DTXpress, but it should be possible. Why else would Yamaha give you
the ability to change a pad's channel in Voice Edit? What appears to
be happening is that the DTXpress defaults to the GM set voice for
every channel other than 10. At this point, the only spot in the
manual that that seems to address this problem is Song Edit 2. Program
Change, Bank Select. After you change the channel for each pad in
Voice, you may have to come to this section, log that channel, toggle
it to "on," and change V (Bank Select) to "drum V." I'm hoping that
switching to "drum V" will automatically also take care of PCNo, since
you won't be choosing a GM voice number, only a particular kit's pad
voice. Once you've gone to drum V, however, you may have to set PCNo
as the drumkit number that you're using. If this doesn't work, it's
back to the drawing board.
