Sean, Any MIDI device without sounds of its own connected to the DTXpress will require you to make at least one MIDI connection and to assign note numbers to specific Yamaha voices in the Utility Mode and enter those numbers into the device as appropriate for each separate pad. Compatibility isn't an issue so far as MIDI is concerned, and the Octapad doesn't take up any inputs. Although the DTXpress module doesn't have a boatload of free MIDI numbers for external access, you should be able to squeeze out 8 of them. Ed
