I would like it fine if I can get to somewhere I
can edit it when needed :-) Basically, anything that is identified as a
snare is married to the snare slider and so on... this is fine in most
applications but has proven quite annoying for my situation.
Also, I have come up with a 2 part work around for
my dilema. I am routing my acoustic snare trigger voice via InsertFX to
IND-1 and on to the main board. I am routing my TD120SD snare to its
defaul stereo channel and on to the main board, thus sound guy can balance
volumes as needed from there.
This did reveal yet another short coming (IMHO) IND
1 thru 6 do not have an option to use the overall dru kit FX, but rather must
use the Insertion FX, which is fine except for three things....
a) there are only 2 insertion FX channels which can
get used up fairly quickly when attempting to duplicate FX used
on multiple preset voices which all use the stereo setting. Maybe 3
or 4 INsFX channel would be better.
b) there should be an option to use the default kit
FX (which you cant use on an IND channel, or better yet somehow use the
"intended" preset FX for that voice.
c) or at least be able to use both of the InsFX
channels in combination, since many of the preset voices use a combination of
REV and CHO settings at the kit level, but obviosly one can only choose one type
of FX via the InsFX. It would be helpful in duplicating a preset FX if I
could set InsFX-1 to match the presets REV setting, and InsFX-2 to match the CHO
setting.
So far I have been able to "cheat" my way around
these issues but not without much aggravation and sacrifice of the intended
sound.

Yes, I have done that on several channels so far
successfully, simply because of how I am arranging my kit.

Not so groovy... the control knob on the pad (I
cant think of the setting name offhand and I'm not near the kit) but anyway....
the setting only works on inputs 1 thru 5. The manual says it should work
on inputs 1 thru 6 but it doesnt. So any pad that you need to control with
the pad knob, should be plugged to inputs 1 thru 6.
I wonder what happens with external samples. Does the user have to
encode them with the proper identifier when downloading?
Not sure, haven;t had an opp to play with that
yet.
Back to your
problem, if no one is aware of the magic setting for assigning a
voice to an alternate slider, maybe we should ask So Tanaka in Japan,
or Yamahammer when he emerges from the pile on his desk after
vacation.

I posted the original post on dtxtremes.com forum
as well, but didn't hear anything yet.
Thanks for your assistance and
insight.
