Switches PSW1 - PSW4

Switches PSW1 - PSW4

2008-02-25 by supisuzoi

Hello group,

I was planning to use pushbutton switches for PSW1 - 4, but I'm not
sure whether these can be simple momentary switches, or whether they
need to latch, since those specified for PSW2 - 4 (NKK M2019) appear
to have both behaviors.

Anyone know?

Thanks,
Kevin

It's whatever you want. PSW1 is a reset so that should be momentary.

On my PSIM, I made the Start and Stop momentary and had no Aux
switch. As I started writing programs, I decided that I could use
these as general purpose mode switches. For example, Start could
select whether to be in a menu mode or a program mode, or select
between different divisors in a program. Having a momentary switch
makes that nearly impossible so I decided to use two position
momentary and latching so I could operate the switches either way. I
also decided to use a switch for Aux, although it is not a separate
input but only functional when there is no plug in the jack. For my
SuperSequencer program, Aux is clock, and it makes it really handy to
debug by removing the realtime clock and manually toggling the switch
to check everything out.

I imagine people will customize these all sorts of ways. I want my
configuration to be full functional so I don't limit myself. I
never have like pushbuttons on MOTM-style panels so all my momentary
switches are flat handle toggle switches (On) None Off. For the
CVS, I used (On) Off On with each half wired in parallel. Up is
latched on and down is momentary on. I can use them either way.
