What are you going to do with your CVS?

What are you going to do with your CVS?

2007-11-20 by djbrow54

While we're waiting for a PCB order, I'm curious what you plan to do
with your CVS? Tell us something about you and your ideas. Possible
questions of interest include:

What applications do you want or are planning on using this for?

Are you going to build this in a small, medium, or large featured
configuration?

Are you going to build it as a module or stand-alone box? If a module,
what format?

If you're buying more than one, why? what applications?

What is your experience level with hardware or software?

Are you planning on using the LCD display?

Are you planning on MIDI?

Is your application music, synths, or other?

How long have you been following this group?

I think it would be interesting to see where there is commonality and
divergence of use. Take care - Dave

I hope to use my four boards as a touring replacement for my EMS KS
sequencers if I can get the scaling and packaging right, every synthi
owner will want at least one (just like the EML Polybox). I would want
to keep these as simple as possible, a power led and perhaps some
other simple indicators

I would also want to add one as a module to my 0-10v synth

planning on using it as a sequencer, mathprocessor, asr, and
quadrature lfo, etc

it's going to go in my planned large-ish portable performance rig,
probably wiard300 format. i don't think i'll add the lcd, and i
don't think i'm interested in adding MIDI to it

i always was interested in the psim, and have been following this
group since it was formed

I'm interested in all the things it can do: quantizing, sequencing,
integration w/ the SpeakJet, multi-phase LFOs, Wiard JAG-emulations,
Shepard Functions (?), etc. etc.

Large as I can handle -- hopefully w/ 8 more outs expansion and
SpeakJet.

MOTM-format module.

One for now.

Hardware: middle-of-the-road. Software: err... Basic on the Commodore
64! ; p

yup.

sure.

music and synths.

a month.

Interesting diverse set of uses.

For those that aren't interested in MIDI, but are building multiple
units or already have a PSIM, you can use the hardware serial channels
to slave together these units. The hardware serial provides a nice
back-channel communications for these modules. I've used them to sync
modules that have slightly differing clocks as well as some
development work on bridging a program between two units when I needed
more than 8 analog inputs or outputs. I've also used MIDI to send CC
messages to my PAiA MIDI2CV to use those 8 analog outputs as well.

The display does add some panel constraints and complexity. I use mine
always to display the name of the program. After not using my synth
for a day or two, I can never remember what program is loaded. If you
are planning on doing any applications that have configurations or
setup, a display is a must. I have two videos of the display on my
site used as voltage level bars and an early sequencer user interface
(which has since expanded in features).

FYI - Dave

I will gather up and repost all my PSIM programs if they'll run on the CVS... (?)

I mostly use the PSIM for sequencing, quantizing, audio manglingDrew
