Question for PSIM owners

Question for PSIM owners

2006-06-08 by djbrow54

Some of the alternatives that John and I are kicking around is to
allow the LCD_Support pcb to be built in a configuration that would
allow expansion for current PSIM owners.

One configuration would be MIDI input and output.

An alternate configuration would be MIDI input and output with the LCD
display.

Is there any interest in either of these configurations by PSIM
owners? No commentary on PSIM shipments, please. I just want to know
if anyone is interested in these alternate configurations.

Dave

You're talking add-on frac panels that connects to the PSIM via
a ribbon cable, right? Count me in. Brice had mentioned making
such an addition when he started this project, but I think things
got a bit out of his control. It would be really nice to bring it back.

Yes, sort of. It would be an expansion for the PSIM that would
connect via one or two cables. This is for the PCB that could be
built either for MIDI or MIDI+display. You are responsible for the
front panel and assembly. I'm sure there will be designs from others
for a FrontPanelExpress frac panel.

The display portion would be similar to what I did for my PSIM althoug
we're doing this version with a 2X16 display (instead of 2x8).

Again, it sounds like something I'd be interested in.

BTW I used to have a red combo-compact just like the
one you have pictured. Memories, my high school rock
band circa 1968. Is that an 88 key Rhodes? I had a 73
but I never thought that the Farfisa would fit on top of
it (without crushing it that is!).

Re: Question for PSIM owners

That is a 1966 Combo-Compact that I played through a 1966 Vox Essex
bass. Still have both of them. The Farfisa is cheezy and the Vox is
noisy but they got me through a lot of gigs. The mixer that sits
behind the music stand has +4 dB output and will drive the Leslie
directly. One of these days I'll have to wire up the Leslie to my
modular.

It's a 73 key suitcase Rhodes. I have a wood half-cover that sits on
the 3/4" sides and rear of the Rhodes. Otherwise, it would crush it.
I had to make an 'extension' cord for the foot pedal.

I used to have an 88 stage Rhodes that I traded for a 73 key suitcase
plus an Arp Odyssey plus an Arp sequencer. Nice trade!

Yes, I would be interested in MIDI in/out and LCD...

I am also interested in the midi in/out + display option.

I saw three yes votes, so I'll make sure the MIDI In/Out for PSIM is
supported on the LCD Support PCB.
