Display exchange and pix

2002-10-31 by cosmo

Hi.
Just changed my display-backlite in my FZ-1; if you¹re interested how this
worx
(sure there out some VZs and FZs fading), what u need and what it costs:
have a look at my site.
The text is still in german (english soon .-) but there a lot of pix for
demo...
It¹s quite easy, some soldering, a new backlite (~13 euro) and a little
practise...

Click the CZ/FZ stuff button!

Btw: never never never buy a red backlite ;-)

Do you think the procedure for changing the light for a CZ-1000 would be
similar to this? Mine is burnt out, so it's next to impossible to
program. If I could see what I was doing, I'd get a lot more use out of
the machine.

I'm looking forward to the english translation - I tried letting
babblefish do it, and now it makes even less sense to me!

I'm just speculating here
but if you're willing to do the work it might be possible to replace the
whole thing with an LED-backlit display that won't burn out

the problem with EL panels is that sooner or later they're going to die.
LEDs won't. If the display has a standard display driver and it's a normal
size (don't know because I don't have a CZ) then it shouldn't be hard to
order a new display.
