Analog Drums

2004-04-23 by nanobotdex

Alright guys, this place is dead. So, here's something else to talk
about.

I recently bought an Andromeda. I play in a band, so I've been using
it for recording, and it's been blowing everybody's mind.

Part of my plan for this thing is to use the analog drum sounds,
triggered from my Korg EM-1, to create a project that is strictly
analog. Not all the technology has be analog (for example, MIDI
definitely isn't), but the sounds the people hear are analog. I
still haven't decided whether digital effects should be used. Gary
Numan and Kraftwerk still used digital effects, so I may be leaning
toward a yes. Ideally, I'd have the individual outs routed to
external effects. Analog flanger on the snare drum would be cool.

Anyway, I have setup a Mix with some modified factory drum sounds
(subject to change, I am just starting the setup). It sounds pretty
cool so far, but some of the sounds will not trigger from the EM-1.
I haven't had a chance to revisit it, it's probably just a note-
triggering issue (meaning the Andromeda may not respond to the note
provided from the EM-1).

I am also toying with the idea of the Andromeda running the bass, and
then me playing live on top of that. Polyphony could be an issue.

Any of you had any experience setting up analog drum kits on the A6?
