ION model

2003-07-07 by Arnaldo Cavioli Ortega

Hello!

Was ION model based on some specific analog synthesizer? I
mean, AFAIK Andromeda filters were created with Minimoog and
Oberheim filters in mind. Was ION modeled after some specific
synth?

Regards,
Arnaldo.

Amazing! I just read it in the manual! I never saw classic filters
being emulated with so clear refference as in ION. Simply...
wonderfull!

About the vocoder: the manual was not clear about the use of power
processing for vocoder. I mean, is it possible to use the vocoder AND
have full 8 voice polyphony or the vocoder will reduce polyphony?

Regards,
Arnaldo.

Yes you will still have full polyphony when you use the vocoder.

The vocoder is in a separate chip - along with the effects. You always
have full polyphony.

You have the option of using pretty much any signal for the synthesis
(carrier) and analysis (modulator) signals. Besides the typical setup
(microphone and internal synth sound) you can patch the same signal into
both vocoder inputs to get a 40-band comb filter effect - great for extra
"rosiny" Cello and String Bass sounds. There's a preset called
"Violacorder" that does this.

You can also use completely external signals for both synthesis and
analysis - bypassing the internal sounds altogether. You can patch your
sampler or rompler in and get a singing trumpet.

Hello Ben! Thanks for your answer! I wished every gear-specific list
would have a gentle person from company's staff to answer the tricky
questions like we have here!

Still about the vocoder: will I loose effects if I use the vocoder?
This chip can do vocoder AND effects or vocoder OR effects?

Thanks!
Arnaldo, about to sell his Nova and buy an ION.
