The vocoder is in a separate chip - along with the effects. You always have full polyphony. You have the option of using pretty much any signal for the synthesis (carrier) and analysis (modulator) signals. Besides the typical setup (microphone and internal synth sound) you can patch the same signal into both vocoder inputs to get a 40-band comb filter effect - great for extra "rosiny" Cello and String Bass sounds. There's a preset called "Violacorder" that does this. You can also use completely external signals for both synthesis and analysis - bypassing the internal sounds altogether. You can patch your sampler or rompler in and get a singing trumpet.
