A6-Andromeda digital effects.

2003-06-16 by horrorcode

Hello,

I am trying to decide whether to use the Andromeda's digital effects
or use my Waves plugins through logic on the computer. I know that
the waves plugins are super high quality but the Andromeda's effects
seem to integrate with the programs better. What do you all think?

Since quality of effects is not a big factor, it boils down to how
easy it is to use the effects, and how easy it is to tweak them for
mastering.

It also depends a bit on how you use your A6.
If you like to render individual tracks from the A6, and work more in
Logic, it might make sense to do a clean render and add the effects
in Logic.
For me, Waves plug-ins are easier to use and more versatile than the
A6 effects.

If you define mixed modes and use them for real-time/live rendering,
it might be more efficient to use the on-board fx.

Thanks a whole lot for the response. I had this weird phenomenom when I
used audio 1 in logic and added waves rverb and hit notes on the keyboard.
The reverb wasn't as strong as the reverb with the onboard fx. I had to
turn down the channel volume in logic for that channel or the waves
plugin's level would shoot up to the top and max out and distort like
crazy! Do you know what this is?? Any help would be very much
appreciated. Thanks again.

Have you put the Waves Reverb as an insert on Bus 1 in the Logic
audio mixer? This is the normal way of working with reverbs (=
processor hungry). Then you choose Bus 1 as an effect send on audio
track 1. Now you can move the fader of the Bus 1 to apply the right
amount of reverb you want to have. (The waves Reverb is standard on
100% wet, this is the reason why it sounded distorted )

You can also work like this with delays, compressors, all kind of
effects....
