AVR-Chat

Atmel cannot or will  not help.   No one else in the frigging WORLD
seems to be using AVRStudio under Vista.

   I have a Tek 2465 350 Mhz 4 channel Oscope I'll sell for $450 +
shipping.   I have several nice handheld DMMS I'll seel the lot of
three for $100 + shipping.  I have 290 drawers in cabinets, 130 of
which are full of over 8700 5% 1/4 Watt resistors,  dozens of values
of caps, transistors, LEDs, voltage regulators, etc (well over $500
worth, not counting the cabinets themselves) I'll sell that for $375 +
shipping.

   Two AVRDragons, one with ZIF socket mounted, the other with nice
machined pin sockets mounted.   Sell the pair, $100 + shipping.  
STK-500, $50.    STK-500(non functional) $25.  (both + shipping)
AVR-Butterfly, $15 + shipping.    No use for any of it.

   I am done with it.  I am obviously too fucking stupid and old and
demented to do programming and electronics anymore.

  I can';t ***AFFORD*** to downgrade.   That requires the purchase of yet
*MORE* worthless SHITE from Mickey$hit.


  After 3+ weeks of getting *NOWHERE* with this problem, and being
able to find NO useful
information *ANYWHERE* I am giving in.

    No, there is ****NO**** useful information out there.   I refuse
to believe that I am the only person in the entire FRICKEN WORLD who
is using AVRStudio under Vista.   Regardeless, Vista is what I have
and what I am stuck with.

  Let me get this straight - Because you can't get Vista to work you're
going to ditch your hobby/business and blame everything and everyone
else BUT Microsoft for saddling you with Vista?  I think you've got some
priority inversion going on here.
  Google for "downgrade to Windows XP" or "Downgrade from Vista" and
follow those instructions to get your computer up and running again. 
Don't shoot the messenger (AVRStudio) for telling you that Vista sucks,
but do heed the message.

Don't you have an old copy of XP lying around?  Even if you don't it only
costs $140 or so for XP Pro, a nickel in the bucket of what you have
invested.   The web is full of reports of people "downgrading" (upgrading in
my book) from Vista to XP.    You'll be doing yourself a big favor to go
back to XP even if you give up on programming and electronics.   

 

There is plenty of useful information out there, and it's mostly go back to
XP.

Vista pro has the option to downgrade built in, you should have zero
additional expense
