K-edit now finally available!

K-edit now finally available!

2008-01-20 by david etheridge

Hi folks,
it's taken a while, but the Kurzweil 1000/1200 editor from K-edit is
now in the files section. Many thanks to George Nakos on the Atari
forum for his genius in sorting this out.
Use the debugged version for the program; any other instrument banks
are in the accompanying zip of the original, so you can now assemble a
complete program for yourselves. Hopefully, it will run okay under
STEEM for those who wish to try it out.

Best wishes,

David.

BTW: what machines is it suppose to work on? Maybe I can find on
second hand at a good price now that this editor is available.

Tim

Hi Tim,
K-edit works with all varieties of K1000 and K1200 keyboards, plus the
PX/AX/SX/HX/GX modules. You simply MUST try these guys out. I have 11
of them!! -which seems like overkill but you can chain link more than
one of the same type for double, triple and more polyphony.
It puts the Proteus range to shame completely, and the depth and
rfange of sounds is truly astonishing. Many of the sounds are still in
the current range of Kurzweils so they're unacknowledged classics and
built like tanks.
Ebay prices in the US seem to be very low: from $50-250 or thereabouts
depending on spec, and all of them are upgradeable with extra sound
chips and OS roms. Kurzweil provided a sound library with Objectmover
(also in the files section) that has some wonderful patches.
You can get the full info here:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/K1000-K1200/
-nearly 500 users there!

Best wishes,
David.

Ooops,
actually, that should be nearly 400 users, but who's counting?

David.

Re: K-edit for STEEM

Hi again folks,
Andrea Toni on the 1000 users group has optimised K-edit for STEEM and
it's now in the files section. There also a small .txt file with
instructions there as well.

Best wishes,
David.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
