Has anybody tried the editing software supplied with the an200 on an AN1x?

Well, I know that it will definitely work the other way around; the AN Expert Editor will work on the AN200 (except for the arpeggio functions). I can't think of any advantage to using the AN200 editor over the AN Expert Editor though (unless you're wanting a plug-in for XGWorks/Lite).

It was the Mac version of the software I was interested to learn if it worked or not. There seems to be a lack of that sort of thing for Apple Computers. Surprised no one has put it into the files section. --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, "Dan" <dxalgorithm18@y...> wrote: > > Has anybody tried the editing software supplied with the an200 > > on an AN1x? > > Well, I know that it will definitely work the other way around; the AN > Expert Editor will work on the AN200 (except for the arpeggio > functions). Each of the Editor/Librarians provided by Yamaha for the AN1x has always been supported under the Mac OS dating back to the original AN1x Visual Editing Package which preceded the release of An1xEdit. Both AN Expert Editor and AN200 Editor are also supported under the Mac OS (OS 9 to be specific.) AN1xEdit works with the AN1x/PLG150AN/AN200 and is cross platform compatible (thansk to the efforts of Gary Gregson). I've successfully used AN1xEdit under Classic within OS X 10.3.9 (Panther) using OMS 2.3.8 and an Emagic MT4 USB MIDI Interface to successfully transfers Voices to/from the AN1x. While AN1xEdit will run under Classic within Jaguar, it will not work for sysEx transfers unless configure with both OMS and MIDIbridge9x. I never spent the time and effort to successfully configure MIDIbridge9x correctly - and it was still in beta release when last I tried - so I can't say whether it works or not. AN Expert Editor can be used with the AN1x, as can AN200 Editor, but the resulting Voice transfers will not be 100% consistent primarily due to difference between parameters in the Voice architecture. You might also experience difficulties using either of these two editors with the AN1x as the result of differences between the SysEx header ID's. If you are interested in learning more regarding the differences between the devices I would direct your attention to the Help file included with AN1xEdit which contains the specifics. You might find this useful. For whatever reasons they see fit, Yamaha has never made AN200 Editor available as a free download as they have with AN Expert Editor - the differences between the two are mostly insignificant. As list moderators, we made a conscious decision not to redistribute Yamaha software and manuals under copyright control out of respect for their policies but also to protect the interest of this list from any false accusations which would violate the terms of use as established by Yahoo Groups! - that's why you won't find AN200 Editor in the Files section of this list. Hope this helps. Jon --- In AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com, "Gary" <gnmorgan@b...> wrote:
