I for one don't want to advocate violations but there does come a time when
1. the units are no longer being made
2. to get the best use, these things are needed
3. it's in the interest of the people now unless you can get said material from Yamaha

Can these items be purchased? If so, please post the details for them to get.

I am with you on the intent. Just the real life feasibility to use that I question.

What are they going to do with the software? hack the code to do? most likely use it with the synth in question. Will they make a mint on the music? slim chance. harm done if you could not buy it legit any other way? Sometimes the morals have to take a side seat to the bigger picture.

The very least someone should be able to tell them where to find, purchase or obtain. I rather do the legit thing and buy but if that is not possible? What then? destroy the synth?

  <snip> I would direct
your attention to the Help file included with AN1xEdit which contains the specifics. You
  might find this useful.

For whatever reasons they see fit, Yamaha has never made AN200 Editor available as a free
download as they have with AN Expert Editor - the differences between the two are mostly
insignificant. As list moderators, we made a conscious decision not to redistribute Yamaha
software and manuals under copyright control out of respect for their policies but also to
protect the interest of this list from any false accusations which would violate the terms of
use as established by Yahoo Groups! - that's why you won't find AN200 Editor in the Files
  section of this list.

  Hope this helps.

Copyright is still in affect.

Not necessarily. There are many user's who buy hardware without any intent of every using
the complimentary sw.

All of these items are available from Yamaha.

They were not offered for sale.

The terms clearly state it may not be redistributed.

It's very simple: AN200 users should contact Yamaha and they'll likely provide a CD-ROM
with the sw as they have for many others. There are many Links to all of the other
mentioned sw items in the Links and Files section of this mailing list:

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/links
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files

These URLs are posted in the 'Welcome' message sent out to all new list subscribers. Don't
know how much more obvious than that it could be.

I think a huge billboard with screaming neon + complimentary
batman-esque spotlight thingie would be the more obvious thing (at least
for the non visually impaired)

Then again, I agree, a bit more user awareness will go miles. Just drop
a note at the yamaha tech-support contact page and they'll happily help
you out with whatever. It's jus that I myself still have to undertake
action to contact my nearest repair center for a bunch of knobs, but
hey, at least the yamaha tech-support helped me on the right way. So who
knows what they could mean to the people looking for software!

Cheers.
