As Ed said, disco strings were mostly live strings. In the AN1X files
section in Yahoo in the tips and tricks folder, at the bottom are
instructions for making synth string patches.

Listen to Bernie Worrell of Parliament and the Funkadelics for a good
idea of what analog synths do in a funk band--sort of a rubber band,
flatulence, cat meowing sound. I love it.

There is a Sample CD that covers the exact type of material he's looking for - 'Sounds Of
The Seventies - Funk and Disco Essentials'

http://www.soundsonline.com/sophtml/details.phtml?sku=ZG305

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a spin off version with less content at a lower price. For
example - StormBreakz is a reduced set from Stormdrum, Percussive Adventures 2 LE is a
spin off from Percussive Adventures 2, etc.

Of if cost is an issue, there is ProSamples series Vol 48 - Disco Fever:

Or how about 'Dance Mega disco House' from EastWest (not too expensive):

Good luck.

Ah,

So looks like I'm going to have a tough time trying to
achive this on An1x and Virus c.

I will see if I can get hold of the samples CD's as
mentioned and use Reaktor or Hallion as a sampling
synth or a re-synthisis approach.

Strange really as Im sure the groups like S- Express
and cool and the gang,Edwin Star, D-Train etc used
synths in those days?
But yes point taken about real string sections.

May be I can get 'Venesa Mae' to help me....lol

Drum-a-thons... Hundreds of guitarists playing "Louie Louie" at the
same time... why not do the same with synths? ;)

Hi,

You mean layering sounds?

string patch for each track. When someone mentioned that real
orchestras were used for disco strings, it got me wondering if
anybody ever actually put together a "synth orchestra"; a large
number of people playing synths at same time. Not very practical, but
sure would be cool...
