AN1x problems - please help

AN1x problems - please help

2004-10-12 by Frank Blades

Hi there,

I have a slight (or possibly not slight at all) problem with my AN1x.
Switched it on yesterday, and found that all my G notes don't work.
Everything else is fine, but nothing when I hit a G - no matter which G on
the keyboard I try.

Before I take it down to the local music shop and take the potentially huge
bill (and before I burst into tears!!!) - can anyone offer any advise?

Frank

(in Bath, England - where ALL the houses are ancient:)

Hi Frank ((in Bath, England - where ALL the houses are ancient),

Great signature ;-)

You might review this thread in the list archives from a couple of years ago:

I didn't search forward from this post to determine if/how he resolved the issue, but
the problem description is similar to your own. IMO, you're probably going to need to
spring for service :-( Otherwise, you've a nice oversized, blue tone generator :-/

Jon

Thanks guys - not the answer I wanted (which was something like - 'switch it
off, toggle the flayrod and switch it on again, and it'll work fine':))) but
it is the solution I needed.

Right, where's me nearest Yamaha dealer...

Frank

The board probably needs the key contacts cleaned. I'd get a service
tech to do it. You'll spend an hour just unscrewing everything.

There is a listing of dealers in the Reference Manual and on the Yamaha web site. Good
luck -let us know how it works out.

Yours is an easily diagnosed problem but you'll need technical knowledge to fix
it. The keyboard circuitry has what's called a diode matrix and one 5 cent
diode has blown. Problem is someone needs to find which one and replace it.

It might not have to get that expensive to fix though, i heard of one
with similar problems, and it was just a cable connector that had come
loose inside it.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
