There are many free, user contributed sounds in the Files section here at Yahoo!
  Groups:

  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files

The majority of them are .an1 format for which you will require the freeware app
AN1xEdit (Mac/Win.) The remainder are in .mid or .syx format for which you can use
either a software sequencer or freeware sysex librarian to upload into your AN1x.

Hi !
I am not using Cubase SX , use Logic here..
but the idea is you should simply load up the MID file into Cubase and route the track with SysEx Data to AN-1x - it will recieve and overwrite the patches in AN-1x - so be sure to have everytthing from AN-1x you need saved somehow on PC (using AN1x Editor)
To ocnvert the data from MIDs to AN-1x , I would load it the data into AN1x the way I told you and then recieve Patches from AN-1x into AN1xEdit..
I am not sure but maybe AN1xEdit can load up *.MID or SYX and make up An1xEdit patch data from them itself but dont think so..
With SYX I am not sure how to get them but you may also download some standart MIDI utility like MIDI-OX - it can load MIDs and SYXs and send them to any port to AN-1x.. SYX and MIDs in case of patches will be very similiar formats..
HTH.
