{OT}An200-Dx-200 editor

Hi list. Please excuse the OT and my lack of much interaction on
this list. I do own an An1x and many other Synths(Waldorf, Korg.
Yamaha. I just bought the An200 and Dx200($199-50dollar Yammy
rebate=$150.00)and installed the XG works lite software. The DX and
An editors are plugs within that app. When I tried to boot XG works,
my computer show "Fatal exception OD blah blah, blue screen etc.
I've tried de-installing and re-installing, no go. I've put this up
at the Yahoo DX200 list(not much traffic) and I thought I would ask
here. There for awhile lately I had been getting alot of BS that
sent me into safe mode. That has died down now, but I suspect
Windows may need to be put back in. BTW I am using 98 as that is
what I have to use with the Korg Oasys pci card. There is an updater
for the XGworks but that is for XP/2000. Any thoughts?
Also I promise to try and contribute more in the future. I've been
more into writing than programming lately. This goes in cycles and I
will roll up my sleeves and start tweeking soon
thanks-Don

I'm also running Win 98 SE with an Oasis card. My system (P3 933 -
Oasis + SB Live) has been stable. I have the AN200 & DX200(but no CD
for the DX200). I installed XG Lite from the AN200 CD then the plugin
(but not the update). I've only used the editor twice but there has
been no problem with it or any other programs since I installed it.
Wish I could offer a solution.
I also have an AN1x that I was planning to sell after I got the AN200
but I can't part with it. I don't know yet how easily patches convert
from one to the other, but I'm going to try running the same (or
similar) patch on both with subtle variations and try morphing
between the two.

Wow I have a P3 933 as well(98 with Oasys card). I kinda think that
something is going on with this Computer OS wise. I thought some
geek would know or suggest something. I receive another hard drive
today that I can archive my 24 bit audio files(and other things) I
will then re-format and re-instal windows 98. I got Window 98me with
this machine and I may 1'st try and put it on the other drive and
then try and install the XGworks and Editors as it is a pain
formatting and starting everything from scratch. Well see how it
goes. I also bought the An200 with the premise of having it replace
the An1x and free up some room, but I am not sure as yet.

Before you go through all that effort why don't you email Yamaha
Customer Assistance from their web site - or have you tried that
already? It typically takes at least a business day to receive a
reply but maybe they can help. The AN200/XG combo doesn't
appear to be widely used on this list. You might want to search
the archives for past discussions too. IMHO, an MU series rack
or Plugstation might be a more suitable replacement then the
AN200 desktop module - aside for the immediacey of the
physical controls.

Good luck.

Well after messing around I managed to get the Editors to work, but
now "Tracktor"(N.I.'s) and what I use to play audio CD's doesn't. I
am going to re-install windows and buy a bigger Midi interface(better
than the Joystick Midi thingy that is used on the Santa Cruz Card.

Thanks for the Replies I enjoy the An1x and will share on this forum.
I also have an Waldorf XT, Micro Q, Korg MS2000r, Oasys Pci card.
The Anix has been joined by the DX200 and An200. For $150 a piece I
went ahead and bought both thinking I'll decide what to do or not do
with the An stuff. There seems intitially, to be soom things about
the An200 that make editing and playing music more intuative than the
Keyboard(An1x). I'll elaborate in the future. There also seems to be
some different patches that I will try and convert to use on the
An1x. I will try this and will try and get them on the Format used
by An1x edit, then upload them
