Another disadvantage of the Nord is that it doesn't have any effects, so you may have to invest in those. - Peter

Well, if you have loads of cash to spend, I suppose it's not a problem to route your Nord through a Lexicon effects unit. But without those effects, a Nord sounds pretty poor compared to an AN1x. - Peter

Great! Glad it worked out so well.

Musician's Friend... $599! That is $400 less than they quoted us this weekend.

Hmmm... you are adding to my gear lust!! Actually, I already have the EX5R which basically has an PLG150AN card built-in (and the VL too, plus sampling).
I agree with you on the CS1x. I've kept it because it was one of my first synths. So, it will be the one to go. I need to give the AN1x a fair chance before giving it up.
I did order the OB-12 today... It's not due in until the 15th though (and who knows, they may bump that date again).

Yeah, but what is it called when you are lusting after software synths?

Yup, the Nord synths are nice, but it's too steep for my budget. I'll wait until they break the 1k price point.
The OB-12 has a very nice interface also and the display is fantastic. It is something that I will look forward to working with.

Oh, that one has been on my radar for a while now. The problem is that I keep hearing about them going bad. Something about the keyboard scanning. I had a line on one a few weeks back at a great price, but I had a bad feeling about it.
It's a huge beast too. I'd have to hang it from the ceiling or something... :-)
Have you ever used one? I've not had the chance to experience one in person.

Say 'goodbye MIDI bandwidth' if you record many realtime adjustments into your sequencer. On the other hand, for live performance it shouldn't matte much aside from trying to control slave devices. I still can't believe I let that NL2 get away from me :-( I sampled some of the sounds and converted them to MP3 for MANGO to audition (he was the AN1x list owner a couple of years back) and it was shortly there after he moved over to the NL2 list. I wonder why? ;-) LOL Jon

BTW, there's a an EX5 kb at the Fairfax GC going for $1199 (I think.) They're got a Wavestation EX for $650 which is tempting but overpiced. They can be had for less on eBay but still, that model is in very good condition. > I did order the OB-12 today... You'd think to blame it on either my ASIO buffer setting or system bus speed but I don't experience these problems with other commercial and shareware VSTi. Must be something in the Mac port. Jon Jon
