Apologises for this OT question,

Does anyone know (or want to sell), what the cat. no. of Yamaha's mini-midi
keyboard controllers?- I know that there was one with a built in XG sound
generator and one without. Have they been discontinued? I want one!

Cheers!

Tom

RE: [AN1x] (OT)Yamaha mini-keyboard controllers -- Future of XG?

2002-04-01 by Paul H. Richards

I have the CBX-K2 (without the built-in sounds). It's great since you can
assign the wheel and slider to any number of controllers and can
independently send out loads of XG commands based on key combinations. I
think it was discontinued shortly after it was introduced. I was lucky to
grab a demo model.

That brings up an interesting question I'd like to poll this group on since
it is probably the most active Yamaha-based group I'm aware of (especially
Gary as the inside guy). What's up with XG these days from Yamaha's
standpoint? It seems like a lot of the momentum has died out. MU series
seems dead (everywhere but Japan), forums have closed. I am still wonderring
if XGWorks (which I use almost every day) will make it past V3.0. Can we
expect that XG will slowly fade away or will it come back in and out again
as a Yamaha-evangelized spec?

Hello Paul,
I couldn't begin to speculate on the future of XG, and I certainly
don't mind a little OT on the list, but have you checked in at
Ampfea.org http://www.ampfea.org ? Some of the old Teklab
mailing lists are now hosted there - inlcuding the Music Bar. That
might be a good choice to follow up on this question if you don't
get any feedback from this list.

regards,

Jon
