SW1000XG NEWS FLASH!!!

SW1000XG NEWS FLASH!!!

2002-03-08 by elektro_dan

hey,

did you guys check out the news at yamaha synth?
we're getting 2 new plg boards to use with the sw1000xg!!
and some joint venture between yamaha and major music software makers,
possibly steinberg, etc...

more on the topic at...

http://www.yamahasynth.com/news/main.htm

i posted this here on this list because there are people using
plg150an's with sw1000xg's.

hope that venture between yamaha and "software makers" is something
you can have a celebration for, similar to new years eve!!.

Thanks for the heads up! I checked the site a few days ago and the info
wasn't there. I guess there is still life in the SW1000XG after all! I
yanked mine from my Mac almost a year ago when I purchased a Korg OASYS, and
haven't really looked back since. Now we get a new non-buggy XG Editor
(finally!) and now this.

Any speculation around on the 2 new boards? I have one slot left in my
CS6x... Maybe it's the infamously-rumored sampler on a card - complete with
slow SCSI speed and cryptic OS!

Seriously though - I could use an FS1r on a card...

???? Where? I still have a DB50XG stucking in my PC, untouched for
the past two years, but if the editor is good i might reactivate
it...:)

I would guess so too.

Ok, my 2 penneth.

1p. Sampler card, well, if they did it would be of no use to SW1k owners
because there is no return path for the samples to come back, so if you
wanted to save them off you couldn't, unless you re-recorded them as
Audio, which defeats the object of a sampler doesn't it. But I think
the CS6X is Ok in that respect as is the Kenton PS, and the motif too.

2p. Synth Cards, are the most likely.

hello,

What't this XG editor people are talking about?

Is it a new XGEdit or XG Wizard/Gold?

Thanx
Dean

Like I said in my original post - MAC users got a new XG Editor. This
program is just a standalone version of what the Windows users got as a
plugin for XG Works I guess. You can see the news item about the update on
www.yamahasynth.com or www.xgfactory.com. We don't get XG Works on the Mac,
so we get shafted waiting years for standalone editors.

By the way, if there are any other Mac users here with the AN card, I have
had a standalone version of the Yamaha AN Expert Editor for like six months.
The installer is in Japanese, but the application itself is all in English.
I found the installer on a Japanese Yamaha site. Here in the US, the Windows
users got the standalone editors, but us Mac users were left out for some
reason? I may even have the Mac editors for all of the PLG cards on my drive
somewhere. If anyone wants them, I'm not too sure how Yamaha feels about me
posting them in the Files section, so I'll try to locate the URL where I
found them originally.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
