Interesting thought, but the main problem with an S/PDIF output it that it becomes cumbersome as soon as you get more than one. Unless you can sync all digital sources to the same clock, you're going to have synchronisation problems. I think that your plan would involve soldering directly on the main board. You'd also need the full technical documentation, with timing diagrams and all. If it's possible, it's not going to be easy. - Peter
