The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

I think it would nice to have all memmbers on this list to get together on a live chat using AOL INSTANT MESSENGER and form a online live chat forum,i think it would create fast/efficient exchange of info to each other in real time.Even video conferencing using Netmeeting could be a good idea.
Any sudjestions would be most welcome,i would be glad to organise it and kick start it off!

I tried this once (I admit very poorly done) with a Java chat applet 
at http://www.synths.net but I think people prefer a mailing list 
that archives messages for anytime viewing.  My site is still up but 
it may crash if there's too many logins.  Since its inception the 
traffic has been non-existent. ;-)

I'd check out any realtime correspondence: netmeeting, irc, webchat, 
etc...just to see what's going on.

One problem for realtime correspondence over the internet is that the
internet is world wide, so when we are working here in Europe, people in
Australia are sleeping...

This is a good idea as the entire list membership has access to it. 
Unfortunately, I don't believe the Chat client is Mac compatible :-( 
and I'm not at my home machine to test...the Chat HELP implies Win 
machines only. Oh well.

A very good point. If a number of you are going to pursue the live 
chat - and there seems to be some interest - I'd suggest establishing 
a few times and days to encourage more participants.

This is just an example: Mon at 8:00 a.m. EST; Tue at 12:00 p.m. EST, 
Wed at 4:00 p.m. EST, Thu at 8:00 p.m. EST, Fri at 12:00 a.m. EST 
Obviously this is overkill ;-) but you get the idea...maybe one or 
two of you would pre-test the Chat feature to give a heads up on any 
technical difficulties. Anyway, just a thought.
