Sw1000xg +PLG-AN

Sw1000xg +PLG-AN

2001-04-02 by faethor@choice.net

Hello everyone
I am having several issues, and I would appreciate any help.

I am having a tough time finding a place that sells or has Midi
Extension cables/ Gender Changer cables to extend the midi cable in
my Sw1000xg. I realize this is a An1x message board, but I know that
there are Sw1000xg people here using the PLG_AN. I really need to
find these cables..

Second question
Is there a selection in the AN1x Editor that allows you to select
what octave you want to play on the keyboard. I know XGedit has it
but I can't find it on the ANeditor and the XGEdit selection doesnt
work. I want to reach notes that I cannot get to using my 61key Sy22,
and transpose it down for bass. I know you can do it within Cakewalk,
but I was hoping there is a selection in the editor

Lastly, can somone explain to me how to make the morphing more smooth
in the editor? I can get it to morph but it goes to different notes
in the in between area, and is not a smooth morph. I am also not
clear on selecting morphing voices. How do you select a morphing
voice that isnt a preset, but a loaded patch list.

I appreciate the help to these newbie questions.
Kevin

1. Use any 5 pin din extender cable male one end female the other, Look
in curry's, Dixons, Maplins, Tandy etc. or your local PC store if you
are outside of the UK.

2. You can use Kshift in XG-edit to shift the notes +- 24 semitones (2
octaves)

3. to select a voice that is a user voice it has to be uploaded to the
card, then in AN-edit set the MSB to user, LSB 0, then select the PRG
number that you uploaded the voice to.

This may not always work, as the cable used for audio applications seems to
have different shielding or pinout -- something. I've had difficulties
using some DIN cables for MIDI applications, particularly at long lengths.

Hosa makes a double-female MIDI adapter which can be used to connect two
MIDI cables together. Most music stores out my way (Boston, MA, USA) seem
to stock Hosa products. I keep a pair of these in my "gig box" in case the
stage setup requires very long connections.

-BW

If we are talking about a male/female extension then a normal 5 pin din
will do, because it will have the correct pinout on the other end.

The problem you are talking about would occur if you were to use a
normal 5 pin din cable as your normal midi cable.

Um , in fact my TC Electronic's manuals show that normal MIDI cable is a 5->5
cable where pins 2 , 4 and 5 are the ones needed (the center one and two pinds
which are the closest to the center) and a usual computer DIN<->DIN cable with
all pins connected (not the cables with only 3 runs inside) work fully fine.
