Sorry to report that the newest ROM still does not treat the sequencer as a real sequencer. When the unit is set to "local off", it does not transmit sequencer data.

Thanks for checking, Ed. I appreciate your taking the time to do so. I've recently been using the Seq/Arp with my sampler much more often than I use to and it's a minor nuisance having to change Local setting etc. No big deal. Hi All, I too am very curious about the O/S ROM upgrade.... The thing I don't understand is, why isn't *everyone* affected by the problems related to the old version? Shouldn't we all be needing the update? Or, were some of the chips faulty, in which case simply a chip replacement (still containing the old version) would suffice. ***For those experiencing "old O/S bugs": How long did it take for the problems to rear their ugly heads? I'm sort of thinking of getting the chip just for safety's sake - just in case a problem arises in 5 year's time - and Yamaha are saying "An1 what???"! Does anyone know anything more??? Cheers everyone, Phil

I've had my AN1x v1.02 for nearly two years now with no sign of any significant bugs - not even a battery low warning ;-) There are a couple of design "limitations" (IMHO) I'd change but those don't qualify as bugs. And half of the changes I'd want would have driven up the MSRP so it's trade off :-/ The *only* problem I've had - and it was repaired by Yamaha under warranty - was that nasty 'popping' and 'clicking' sound at power-up that affected so many AN1x's back then (24+ months ago.) Being a hardware issue that problem probably would have only grown worse over time. Let's face it, the AN1x is relatively bug free (OS problems.) I don't worry much about the OS ROM upgrade but if it's a nagging concern for you - call or email Yamaha and solicit the EPROM chip (just as Ed did.) At least you'll have peace of mind that you're on the current version. :-) regards, Jon --- In AN1x-list@egroups.com, Phil <accession@o...> wrote: > Hi All, > > I too am very curious about the O/S ROM upgrade.... > > The thing I don't understand is, why isn't *everyone* affected by the > problems related to the old version? You don't need the new ROM. It doesn't change anything you will notice. Believe me, I got it and it made no difference. Ed
