Here Giblet has gone and poked his face right out of the window into the fog.

"You" (who? scientists maybe?) can make "anything" (what? methane, a Casio
watch, maybe your car horn?) with a programmable 'beep' (like your car?)
simulate speech (what language?).

Gilbert, the abilities of any synthesizer depend upon the design.  You are
mistaken in thinking that the AN series of synths has a simplified means of
emulating speech.  The programmable beep that you speak of must be modulated
with a complex waveform to produce an output that has the intricate qualities of
speech.  The AN series has only a simple set of internal waveforms available for
modulation (sine and pulse being the most prevalent).  There is no "audio in"
function in this synth.

You shouldn't presume that producing a sound resembling speech is an easy task.
It requires special algorithms, programming and wave storage.

Again: The "We All Die" patch is a masterpiece, very clever and very complicated
to produce.  Jon has done an excellent job of dissecting it for us to examine
and possibly modify.
