one good reason that I know and I do when I run sound for the loud ones... you can bridge in mono to double your output... (not my preference at all as I like using effects to tickle the audience) me, and my wife's bands, we run in stereo and semi surround too... (most bands get thier info to set up from the local GC or music store... ;-) and they are doing good to get any sound out sometimes...) dale Administrator for Kay-Net.com admin@kay-net.com Lancaster CA Band Web pages Inquisitor Betrayer http://www.soundclick.com/bands/7/inquisitorbetrayermusic.htm Angel's Wings http://www.soundclick.com/angelswings Want to discuss anything musical, great group to subscribe to @ signature_riffs_of_the_pros-subscribe@yahoogroups.com ----- Original Message ----- From: Ed Edwards To: AN1x-list@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, January 18, 2005 10:21 AM Subject: RE: [AN1x] re:Painting the synth > most live PA's lately seem to have this mono thing going... just > spoils synth play I tell you... Hey, from a semi-pro sound tech I'll tell you that it's an ugly myth. They state: You lose signal and have dead spots in the house! Far from true if you DON'T HARD PAN LEFT OR RIGHT! So much stupidity out there. If you've got a pan knob, be sure to pull the guy entirely into one speaker... dumbass. Subtleties and nuances make the mix like a wonderful meal. Too much sweet or salt will kill the best steak. And believe me, I've heard live mixes of some of the best names that had that same quality as when you step on the cat's tail. Or when you're on the airport runway.
