The Yamaha AN1x Synthesizer mailing list

I have a PLG150AN (and DX) plugged into my S80. AN board is 
basically half an AN1X; only 1 scene, 5 note poly. You can morph 
between patches in user bank (128) and preset board voices (256). 
AN1X patches transfer just fine, except AN board is fixed at scene 1. 
AN board has a few differences. Osc1 has a multisaw wave that can be 
detuned from itself and a  mix wave. Tri wave on osc2 (don't know if 
these are on AX1X). Osc2 has a cross modulation function that can 
sound bizarre. PLG FX are limited to 3band EQ and amp sim, but you 
can use FX from your motif to compensate.  Can't do layers and splits 
with just 1 AN board (but you could plug 2 of them into your Motif, 
or do layers/splits with Motif voices). I find the PLG editor easier 
to use than AN editor. A nice little board for $240. IMO the best of 
the PLG series. BTW, pass on the DX board unless you really like DX-7 
presets and weird metallic spitting
