> Hi Kevan, >I will try to answer you're questions, but english is not my native >language, so it may be a little weird sometimes. Sorry for that. Hey, it sounds great to me :-) >Correct. The plg150-an doesn't have any effects beside a distortion. >So it depends on the host for more effects. As there are several >different hosts available with different effect possibillities the >actual effect parameters are not part of the custom voices. Emm, thought this was the problem.. >I use the AN1Xedit program to edit/load raw custom voices. Then I use >these voices as the basis for user voices on my motif. I edit them on >the motif and store the edited version in a PLG user voice with the >added motif effects. Me too, I've just created my first "ALL" file complete with SYSEX dumps for the 3 x PLG cards and this loads ine when the "ALL" file is names "AUTOLOAD.ALL" and AUTOLD1 AUTOLD2 and AUTOLD3 for the Plug-In Bulk dump files.. I too have edited them on the Motif 8 and located the plug-in voices in the 64 x user memory locations.. >As told above I do this on the motif itself. It still is a bit of >work, but I can get around my motif pretty fast. Yep, I am pretty adept at getting around on the Motif O/S modes but wasn't sure whether I had to set-up additional effects from the Host Synth, and in this case its the Motif.. Guess you do.. >You can copy the common parms between voices. >Voice job mode, [F3] copy, type =common >So when you set up one voice with the effects you want on all other >voices you can copy these to them. Still one by one.But you don't have >to specify the complete effect parameters each time. Yep, this copy common params between voices seems the way to go to speed-up things when editing and copying voices from 128 User to 64 x Plug-in, especially on the PLG150-AN.. I shall probably use this method on the other PLG cards I have installed on my Motif.. I noticed in the PLG150-PF manual that the Preset voices are listed with what type of Insert effects and System effects whcih should act as good templates for the second bank of 64 x Plug-In Voices when setting-up effects for them.. >The VL card also doesnt have any effects in its custom voices. It only >has more build-in plug voices. >And applying effects is a very personal thing, my taste can be very >different from yours. So experimenting is the key here, just try the >different effects on the sounds, keep what sounds good to you and skip >the rest. >The effecttypes that I use most often are the chorus, reverb, delays >and compressors. But that is hardly surprising given that these are >used mostly by everyone. I guess setting-up Insert and System effects for voices for the PLG150-AN on the Motif as HOST will have to be trial and error but I'll experiment.. One of the great things about the PLG150-AN is its a analog modelling synth and for these types of synths effects do tend to be subjective.. Distortion for one person could very well be EQ for another person.. I think I can use the PLG150-PF manual as a template for the 64 Plug-In voices to try an emulate similar effects used on Grand Pianos, Electric Pianos,Digital Pianos, Organs, Clavs and combinations with Piano/Strings etc, this shouldn't be too difficult to acheive but the time needed to edit the 64 x Plug-In voices in one sitting.. Its the PLG150-AN which is going to be a challenge but hey, that's what its all about I suppose.. >Hope this helps... > Grtz Wan Listen Wan, thank you, I appreciate your help and advice and if I can help you anytime please ask, though the list of directly via my personal email address.. BTW, good list.. Greets to everybody.. Kevan craftbro@...
