The AN1X not only excels at duplicating old sounds, it also has some features to make some nice new sounds. It really updates the old polyphoic sythesizers. Use of such features as the mod wheel for scene control lets you switch from a funky wah wah sound to a jangly fm piano kind of sound. You can also easily jump from a rhythmn instrument to a lead instrument just by setting up the scenes, Now I'm not knocking the Andromeda, and I'd love to have one, but the AN1X live gets you about 95% of the way towards an analog tone.As far as sound design, an instrument like the Andromeda is way ahead of the AN1X but after a couple of years I still haven't tapped into half the power of the AN1X.
