I find it easy to make weird noises on the AN1X but the noises are difficult to play musically. Likewise I find it easy to make some generic, vanilla leads-just shift her in legato mode and presto... The other day I had the brilliant idea of taking the gonzo filter sweep ring modulator noise and layer it with the lead. I played with the attack and the volume and some free eg so the noise built up gradually with a little sustain. A metallic sound with a sustain almost mimics a plate reverb-a gloriously cheesy one. This patch gives a good useful lead sound with some evolving craziness in the background. The big test will be to try this live with the band. Live a lot of the special effects just turn to mush.
